This comprehensive website that assists students and parents in college application research, resume development, deadline reminders and much more will be available this year to all Carnegie families.
All parents of junior and senior students are urged by Ms. Chapman to register on the Naviance site. Once you are registered you will begin receiving email announcements with important college related information. Please register using the registration code given to your student. Students can come to the counseling office to get the registration codes if they have been misplaced. Deadlines around the corner for Cornell Engineering Diversity Programs,
Baylor College of Medicine’s Saturday Morning Science, and
Rensselaer’s STAR Program!
The Diversity Hosting Weekend event seeks students whose racial or ethnic background is traditionally underrepresented in engineering. Online applications: www.engineering.cornell.edu/falldhw
For an application to the Women in Engineering Program, which takes place the same weekend and focuses on the experience of women engineering students at Cornell. Online applications: www.engineering.cornell.edu/wieprogram
Baylor College of Medicine continues its successful Saturday Morning Science Program to raise excitement about math and science, and to encourage middle and high school students to pursue careers in bioscience. The program runs from January through May, with 2 sessions per month. Students interact with physicians, scientists, medical and other grad students. Applications are available beginning September 1 at www.bcm.edu/studentdiversity
Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in upstate New York invites academically talented rising seniors who are underrepresented minorities or young women to apply for the STAR (Science, Technology, Arts at Rensselaer) Program. The program begins October 13th and concludes October 15, with emphasis on leadership, and academic and student life at Rensselaer. A limited number of travel grants are available.
