Carnegie Vanguard Ranked 7th Best High School in Texas

A recent report released by the Texas Educational Excellence Project (TEEP) - Texas A&M University, ranked Carnegie Vanguard High School number seven on its list of the 25 Best Texas High Schools.

Five indicators were used in the study: graduation rate, TAKS pass rate, the number of students whose SAT or ACT score indicate college readiness, the percentage of students taking AP and IB classes, and the number of students passing their AP/IB classes. In addition, the study considered controls that identified those schools that "do more with less."

Carnegie Vanguard High School, located in far south Houston at 10401 Scott Street, is HISD’s only all-magnet high school for academically gifted students and was established in the fall of 2002 as the successor to the highly successful school-within-a-school Vanguard program at Jones High School.
