Prizes are variously awarded by team, by grade level, by gender, and by year of Latin [I through V+].
Joshua Echebiri, First in Dramatic Interpretation Boys Latin II. Sixth in Sight Reading Boys Latin II. Eighth in Olympika, 10th grade Boys 200-Meter Dash.Texas took Second in Ludi Basketball with his assistance.
Mari Huffman, First in Graphic Arts/Large Models grades 7-9 with a 1"=4' scale Roman house cum family business. Sixth [in a large tie] in [Academics] Reading Comprehension I. Seventh in Sight Reading Girls Latin I.
Kaitlin Clark, First in Reading Comprehension I. Sixth in Graphic Arts/Drawings & Paintings -- Acrylic grade 11. Sixth in Sight Reading Girls Latin I. Second in Latin Derivatives I. She also posted the High Score Of Contest for all levels of Reading Comprehension. This earned a walk to the stage during mandatory General Assembly rather than the optional Awards Assembly.
Ms. Huffman judged both Graphic Arts / Maps and Creative Arts / Advanced [III-V+] Sight Reading -- Poetry. She represented Carnegie in a sixth Convention area, Certamen, which is live-buzzer 3-team College Bowl, with Novice, Intermediate and Advanced levels in Competitive and Open divisions. She was Coder on a Moderator Team for four of the five rounds of Competitive Certamen. Ms. Huffman won her team’s first point in The World Series of Certamen (sponsors/coaches/collegians) competition!
Next year, Carnegie Latinistas plan to travel to U Cal Davis, near Sacramento for Convention. Congratulations to those who represented Carnegie and performed so well!
