Principal Ramon Moss has been selected as Outstanding Region 4 Principal of the Year for HISD's South Region. You can read more about Mr. Moss' honor.
English Teacher Dr. Paula Brown has been selected as Outstanding Teacher of the Year for HISD! Read about her achievment on the HISD web site. Congratulations to Dr. Brown, and we appreciate her talents at Carnegie.
The Carnegie Vanguard PTO has been selected to receive HISD Library Services Community Award for its support of the Carnegie Vanguard High School library.
Sophomore Emily Estes has been featured in the Jewish Herald Voice for her activism through Young Judaea with regard to the tragic events in Darfur, Africa. Read the full article.
Sophomore Edwin Terrell recently placed first in the seventh annual Museum of Fine Arts Houston Young Movie Makers competition. Read more about his achievement .
Also at the Banquet, the PTO awarded its annual scholarships to 3 of our outstanding seniors including Anthony Obi, Colette Nelson and Patrick Ashiru. A special award was given to senior Allen Groue in recognition of his contributions to the Carnegie JSA chapter. All 31 of CVHS' graduating seniors are Texas Scholars.
Two Carnegie Vanguard seniors have been named among the 315 recipients from Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller countiesof The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship program. Dy'v-l Montrece Davis, who will be majoring in Theater/Communications at either Tulane University or Prairie View A& M, and Deborah Israel Terrell, who will be at University of Houston in Biology, will each receive $12,000 over a 4 year period. The winners were selected on the basis of their academic achievement, leadership, community involvement and financial need. Congratulations to Dy'v-l and Deborah! CVHS' brand new baseball team will be competing as an officially sanctioned UIL team in class 4A for next season (2006-2007). In addition, Carnegie will be adding a girls’ UIL volleyball team for next year.
