Saturday Morning Science 2010
The program is designed to help middle school and high school students from underserved areas in Houston get excited about math and science, and to encourage them to pursue careers in the biosciences! We are especially targeting those students who may not have access to the opportunities that are readily available to the "A" or honor student, and may need a little "extra push" and/or motivation.
The program runs from January through May, with sessions taking place 2 Saturday mornings per month. The sessions consist of a 45-minute lecture from Baylor College of Medicine faculty, followed by break-out sessions which are led by our medical and graduate students. The students then re-convene as a large group to report back their findings. Some of the highlights of the program each year include: A trip to NASA and a College Fair in May! This is a valuable opportunity for your students to interact with tenured scientists, physicians, medical students, and graduate students.
This year we would also like to invite science teachers to participate! If you are interested in having some of your students participate in the Saturday Morning Science program in 2010, please contact Kara Green at (713)-798-8646 or karag@bcm.edu at your earliest convenience.
